My poetic sense was corrupted at a tender age by reading Mad Magazine’s “Sung to the Tune Of” parody lyrics of popular songs. Who can forget “On a Clear Day You Can See a Funny Girl Singing ‘Hello Dolly’ Forever”? Or Allan Sherman’s “Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh!”? I just can’t take poetry seriously, because most poets take their poetry TOO seriously. Long live Weird Al Yankovic!
