I’m currently about 3k words into my newest Father Declan supernatural mystery novella. Working title: “The Christmas Spirits at Tully Castle.” This castle ruin was the site of a massacre during the 1641 Irish Rebellion in which Rory Maguire, seeking to reclaim lands stolen by England and occupied by Scots, sealed 60 women, children, and elderly men inside the tower house and set it alight on Christmas Day. Fr. Declan is assisted this time by Saint Ninnidh (pronounced “ninny”), his Ulster contact from the Cloud of Witnesses. I visited this location with Walter’s Way Tours last year. There is an adjacent poultry farm which contributes comic relief to the rescue and redemption of the suffering souls. A true Christmas ghost story. I can’t wait to find out what happens next!
