Now Available: Father Declan’s first time travel story

I’ve been to Ireland twice now, but not yet to the County Sligo. Still, the abbey ruins caught my eye while planning a future trip to the northwest, and along with it, the legend of the friars’ massacre at Sligo Abbey in 1642. (Actually, it’s Holy Cross Priory, but nobody calls it that anymore.) And of course Sligo is in the heart of W.B. Yeats territory. My inspiration for this story came from the original legend, a short story by Yeats about the supernatural fate of the murderous Puritan soldiers, and my research into the abbey ruins and Glencar Falls. A visit to both is on the itinerary for my August 2023 tour.

The Curse of Sligo Abbey

An unconventional Irish priest must undertake a dangerous journey back in time to unbind a ghostly Dominican friar from a 400-year-old curse.

Inspired by “The Curse of the Fires and of the Shadows” by W.B. Yeats. Featuring guest appearances by the spirits of Saint Columba and Sir Frederick Hamilton.

Set in Ireland, the Father Declan Supernatural Mysteries are upbeat, redemptive contemporary fantasy short stories and novellas. Some are humorous, and others mildly horrifying.
